Big Ideas in Biology - Interview Questionss

  • Evolution and Natural Selection
  • Requirements of living things
  • Curiosity and Inquiry

1.  How can you show your learning of these big ideas throughout the course?  Be ready to show your best examples.
i show all the things I learned and the knowledge i acquire throughout the semester onto my blogs .

Evolution and natural selection

I learned that the requirements of living things are just as important as requirements of humans. We as humans require things like water, food, our digestive system, muscular system etc just as much as other living organisms do to getting food in diff ways or same ways as us humans

curiosity and inquiry : I wasn't really curious to learning about living things or what surrounds us in daily bases of our day but once we learned a little bit about small things or how small things can change so much to survive in the community made me more curious about things

2.  How do you see the world differently after taking Biology?  Discuss.

I see the world differently because it taught me in a fun mattered way that theres so many living things out there besides humans and main animals and insects. I also learned bugs can be so small that you would need a microscope to see it. I see the world in more of a open mind and in more depth for example i see everything with a meaning and how the smallest animals survive and am more curious.

Assignment completion:  Are your blog posts complete? Are the assignment questions answered and similar criteria met?  Where you prepared for your interview and self-evaluation?

I have finished and done most of my blogger assignments and have answered all the questions to my full potential - i give myself an A or high B

Assignment Quality:  To what level did you complete the assignments?  Are you able to remember what you have learned from them?  Would others be able to follow your blog posts?  Did you care about what you were writing?  Provide examples.
I have completed mostly every blog this semester and have finished them to my fullest potential. I have learned a lot from the dissections and what is inside such small animals and how a plant can make itself smell so bad that the prey cannot eat it. uhmm idk . I cared about the things I found most interesting for example all of the disssections my intresting plants etc - i give myself a B

Skills: How did your skill set change throughout Biology 11?  Blogging, research, communication (written and verbal) lab skills such as microscopes & dissections.
My blogging skills were not as good before as they are now and I have learned better techniques to researching for example i know how to research for articles etc (google scholar) . my lab skills have increased a lot from last year because I didnt know how to use the microscope as efficiently and I never knew how fun it was to dissect until now - i give myself an A

Your Learning:  What did engagement in activities look like to you?  When were you the most engaged in class / assignments (really into what we were doing)?  Were you eager to learn?  What did you learn about how you learn?   What was your attitude after learning? How did your attendance affect your learning and why?

Engaging to activities were fun because they were knew and i learned some cool things. I was the most engaged in class when we were dissecting animals and the acorns and pinecones assignment was fun because we went outside to find things. I was eager to learn about how grasshoppers/starfish look in the inside because I seen them from the outside my whole childhood life and never thought of how they looked from the inside. ?. My attitude was positive after learning except when we dissected rats because that was gross. My attendance changed about what I learn and how much I learn because the first half of the semester i had soccer almost 2-3 times a week and that made it difficult to learn everything we were learning in class and the 2nd half was way better and I barely missed a class and it was way easier and I learned a lot more - i give myself an A

You can come up with your final percentage in a variety of ways - either create a total for each category that you mark yourself and add up the totals (is.  10/15, 30/40 etc.), give yourself a letter grade for each category (A, B, B, B) and base your percentage on the average of those letters, or come up with your own system.  You must be thoughtful and reflective and be able to clearly explain your evaluation method.  Be responsible & prepare for your interview and self-evaluation.
I give myself
I think I deserve a high B because of the way i changed and stared doing all my blogs
